The New Brunswick Kinesiology Association (NBKA), in partnership with Metriks, is excited to invite members of the Provincial Kinesiology Associations (PKAs) across Atlantic Canada, as well as other healthcare professionals, to take part in the upcoming Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) Certification Workshop.

This certification program combines the flexibility of 13 hours of online self-paced learning with a 1-day, (7 hour) in-person workshop providing you with both theoretical foundations and the hands-on skills to confidently perform FCEs.

Functional Capacity Evaluations are widely used to assess an individual’s ability to meet the demands of their work and are essential in areas such as occupational health, insurance claims, vocational rehabilitation, and return-to-work planning.

Why Attend the Workshop?

  • Learn from the Expert – Hands-on training with Kevin Cairns, a leader in FCE practice.

  • Master Practical Skills – Move beyond theory with guided instruction and real-world case studies.

  • Career Advancement – Earn a recognized certification that expands your scope of practice and professional credibility.

  • Networking Opportunity – Connect with other PKAs from across Atlantic Canada and share best practices.

What You’ll Experience

During this intensive day of learning, you will:

  • Conduct and refine intake interviews (health history, job demands, self-reported function)
  • Performing physical exams (ROM with goniometers & inclinometers)
  • Hands-on effort testing (Grip, Pinch, Rapid Exchange tests)
